Last May we told you about an upcoming CD release concert for Far in the Heavens: Choral Music of Stephen Paulus featuring the Tuscon Chamber Artists. June 30th marked the official change of the ensemble's name to True Concord Voices & Orchestra. From music director Eric Holtan:
“Today marks an exciting event in this organization’s history: the changing of our name. True Concord Voices & Orchestra is born, carrying with it the great responsibility of holding the soul of Tucson Chamber Artists in its breast, moving the indelible spirit of our music forward. Upon founding Tucson Chamber Artists in 2004, I came up with the name. Over the next several years, the board of directors and I would discuss changing that name on more than one occasion. It turns out that the name created confusion in the community about the type of music we perform, and we have often been confused with other local chamber music organizations. When the possibility of our first national recording contract became a reality last fall, it became obvious that we needed to stem the confusion and launch a new brand that would resonate with classical music lovers everywhere. Shakespeare was the source of True Concord, which is a timeless concept about the transcending power of music and its ability to bring people together. …”

Far in the Heavens — September 11, 2015
Far in the Heavens was recorded in May 2013 at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson with GRAMMY®-award winning producer Peter Rutenberg of Los Angeles. Composer Stephen Paulus was here in Tucson for the week of recording sessions, culminating in a world premiere recording for all the works on the album.
All of the works were written within the last 10 years, and two are commissions of True Concord Voices & Orchestra: The Incomprehensible (2009) and Prayers and Remembrances, the 35-minute oratorio for choir and orchestra commissioned by TCA for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The work received its premiere at a special concert on September 11, 2011, at the University of Arizona’s Centennial Hall in a joint performance with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
